参る人にハ利生あるべし
奉額 出て見よ出ぬ身ハ寒し花の雲

当寺の境内は龍宮涌出の霊場にて/堂舎および歩行の地ハ大概一枚の/盤石にてさらに塵土をふまず/本尊ハ弘法大師の作にて/京洛より飛で爰に移り/玉ひし尊像にましまして/もつとも霊験あらたかなり/或年天下大に旱)して/万民の飢渇/まのあたり/なれバ/大師に/勅あつて/祈らせ/られしに/大師摧肝/膽て祈り/けれバ/神泉苑より小竜天上する同時/に此地の盤石二ツに/われて大竜雲を/起して発しけれバ/忽ち大雨降/そゝぎて人/畜草木/も蘇生り/五穀豊饒せしハ/偏に大師)の丹精と/観音の利益なり

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
