御手にもつはちすのはゝきのこりなく
浮世の塵をはけの下寺
奉額 人に魚ハ見せぬと蓮の浮葉かな
火災の利益
当所ハ日本武尊東国を征し給ふ/時御旗を建給ふ所なれバとて/旗の下といひつるを今いひ/あやまりてはけの下といふ/当寺のいまだ建ざる/古より此所仏/意に叶ふ/地なれバ/常に/紫雲/たなびきて天より曼陀羅/華を降して音楽の響き/絶ざる霊場なりしとかや/さて験あまた/あるなかに/いとも有難きハ此大宮町の高野氏の/娘江戸中橋なる某に嫁したるが明暦/丁酉の年正月十八日の大火災のせつに万死を/まぬかれて一生を得しことその頃の板行に/なりし空穂猿といふ冊子にくわしく/出たるとなれバ爰に贅せず

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
