罪とがもきえよといのる坂氷
旭はさゝでゆふひかゞやく
奉額 臘八や消して火燵も雪の山
住持門海
門海は智徳勝れたる聖にて当山に/二王門を建立せしけるが普請なかばに/邪気に犯されて臥けるが薬服も/はかばかしく験もなけれバ本尊に/快気を祈念しけるがその夜夢中に/貴僧来りて吾よく汝が邪気を/治さしめんと宣へバ/ふしぎと其坐へ/金剛神あら/ハれ出て門海の/手を採て/引立る/と思へバ/夢覚/ぬその/翌日より/忽ち平愈しけれバ本尊を/いよいよ信心しけるに猶数多の霊験を蒙り/長寿を得たること偏に当寺の利益ふしぎといふもおろか也

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
