DescriptionIchikawa Shinnosuke IV used the names Akanbei until 1857, Juzô from 1857 to 1863.7, Shinnosuke from 1863.7 (as commemorated by this print) to 1870.1, Saruzô from 1870.1 to 1882.6, and Ichikawa Ebizô VIII from 1882.6 until his death in 1886.11. He was the younger brother of Kawarazaki Gonjûrô I (later Ichikawa Danjûrô IX).
Kawarazaki Kunitarô I, aged 14 in this print, used the name from his debut in 1859.2 until his premature death in 1867.4.
