The right sheet of the diptych was recycled, without any alterations, from an 1855 production of Konoshita Kage Masago no Date-zome, in which the same actor had played the same role.

本図は安政4年10月21日市村座「伊達競阿国戯場」上演時に、足利頼兼役は<4>尾上菊五郎であったため安政2年9月12日市村座「木下蔭☆伊達染」上演時の11.40825aをそのまま使用して二枚続を作ったものと思われる。
