DescriptionThis painted block depicts two partial and one complete registers of striding figures of Nekhebu. All hold staffs and face right, and many include hieroglyphs, spelling Nekhebu's name and titles. Each horizontal row of figures stands on a horizontal register line, and there is a wide vertical border to the left side. The figures retain original pigment of red, yellow and black.
ProvenanceFrom Giza, tomb of Nekhebu G 2382 [(originally thought to be a tomb, but now known to be a jumbled deposit of limestone blocks from other nearby tombs)], court, originally from G 2381. 1913: excavated by the Harvard University-Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; 1913: assigned to the MFA by the government of Egypt.
