DescriptionLinen plain weave sampler in two parts, bottom half embroidered with undyed cotton with floral borders and motifs, top embroidered with polychrome silk with large floral basket in center surrounded by scattered floral motifs, birds, and animals.
Two pieces of cream colored linen joined by needlepoint lace stitches. In the upper part crudely drawn flowers, bird and animals are worked in satin stitch in black, white and several shades of pink, blue, green and yellow silk. DE MANO DE MARYAROCARYORVYS is worked in cross stitch in black silk across the top. The lower part is worked with a variety of floral borders in cream colored cotton in buttonhole stitch, drawn work and satin stitch. Stained.
