DescriptionWall light of cartouche-shape, in the Régence taste, similarly but more simply molded and decorated, the center with a phoenix rising from gilded flames beneath a sun ray. Later silver-gilt candle branches.
ProvenanceBy June 1970, William Redford, London (dealer); June 17, 1970, sold by William Redford to Edward M. Pflueger (b. 1905 - d. 1997) and Kiyi Powers Pflueger (b. 1915 - d. 2008), New York [see note 1]; 2006, bequest of Edward M. Pflueger and gift of Kiyi Powers Pflueger to the MFA.
