Description朱一色の疱瘡絵。<2>市川新之助の名乗時期は文政8~文政9年10月。『近世日本演劇史』では初舞台は文政10年11月中村座とあるが、この時は<6>市川海老蔵を名乗っていた時期であるため本図とは合致しない。

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
