Inscriptions「義経記抜書 常盤御前は義朝公のたよりをまちわび玉ふに平治二年正月五日明かた金王丸馬をはやめてはせ来たり さてもわか君は尾張のくに智多郡のまのうつみにくたり給ふに をさ田の庄司がもとにとしをこへたまひしに庄司忠宗心かはりにて其子四郎景宗とはかりこの三日のあかつきにかうのとのをはしめかまだ政清その外ろうどうもみなうたれぬと申せば ときはゝさらなりいとけなきひと/\にいたるまてかなしみ玉ふにあはれなり」

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
