DescriptionThe text states that the print is based on an imperial progress of the first month of 1868, but it may actually represent the Meiji emperor's visit to Osaka in the third month of the year. The figure in the upper center of the right sheet is probably the young Meiji emperor.

[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States.
