The design seems to have been recycled from an earlier diptych made for the production of Hana Fubuki Hakone no Akebono at the Naka Theater in 1862.3; see Ikeda bunko, Kamigata yakusha-e shûsei, vol. 5 (2005), #149. The faces and names of the actors, and the background, have all been changed, but the title of the production was not changed.
