DescriptionThis gilded silver amulet shows the Kushite Queen Nefrukakashta being embraced and nursed by a goddess, probably Hathor. The goddess wears the vulture headdress and a crown consisting of a diadem with bovine horns and the solar disc. A protective vulture flies above the queen, its claw resting on her royal uraeus cobra.
Provenance1919, excavated from tomb Ku 52 (tomb of Queen Nefrukekashta), el-Kurru, Sudan by the Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition; assigned in the division of finds by the Government of Sudan to the MFA. (Accession Date: March 1, 1919)
