DescriptionObverse: Armor-clad female figure on horseback facing proper right hand of medal and carrying a standard with raised fleur-de-lis in her right arm. A horizontal angel above the figure's head offers her a sword. In raised letters at the right and left sides: "JEANNE D'ARC". In raised letters on the ground line below the horse: "PAUL MANSHIP 1915"
Reverse: A female figure in flowing drapery with hands joined in prayer. She is bound to a stake; cut wood is beneath her feet and flames engulf her form. A hand comes from a cloud above to crown the figure with a laurel wreath. A border of small dots separates the image from the raised inscription which circles the perimeter of this side: "LA VIERGE HEROIQUE ET MARTYRE MCCCCXXXI"
