DescriptionVermuele: "Obv: Bust to right in an eighteenth century cuirass and cloak. GENERAL WASHINGTON INSCRIBED TO HIS MEMORY BY D. ECCLESTON LANCASTER MDCCCV. Rev: An Indian, holding an arrow in the right hand, stands with his left arm leaning on his long bow, the end of which is on the ground near his left leg. THE LAND - WAS OURS. All of the above is in a medallic inner circle. On the outside of the flan, in three concentric circles, from the largest inwards, appears the following continuous inscription: . HE LAID THE FOUNDATION OF AMERICAN LIBERTY IN THE XVIII CENTURY / . INNUMERABLE MILLIONS YET UNBORN WILL VENERATE THE MEMORY --- OF THE MAN WHO OBTAINED THEIR COUNTRYS FREEDOM.
