Rev: A MONUMENT / CORNER STONE LAID 1848 - COMPLETED -:- 1876 around a circle enclosing (PRESIDENCY OF U.S. GRANT) above an image of the Washington Monument under construction with WASHINGTON and D.C. inscribed to the left and right. WOOD'S SERIES C NO.3 is inscribed below. The whole is surrounded by a plain rim.
