DescriptionOne sheet with three designs, now cut apart: 11.35334 (by Hokushû), 11.35335 (by Hokushû), 11.35336 (by Yoshikuni). Originally, 11.35335 was in the center of the sheet and was upside down relative to the other two images. The sheet was not supposed to be cut apart, but rather was intended to be folded in three and glued or fastened at the side edges to make a souvenir wallet, with a folded flap over the opening; all three pictures would then be right-side up.

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
