Ed Rossbach’s woven explorations often highlight the beauty in common materials, and this tasseled sculpture is no different. Here, Rossbach embraces nonconventional materials like duct tape, as well as reclaimed materials otherwise destined for disposal. The combination is a dense, colorful elongated pom-pom indicative of his interest in making fiber sculpture off the loom. This approach made him an impactful teacher to generations of students at the University of California, Berkeley where he taught from 1950–79. The Daphne Farago Collection, 2004 2004.2109
