Description(New York: Hurd and Houghton, 1870) 18.2 cm; iv pp. [1 f.] 245 pp., plus plates; original publisher's black- and gilt-stamped green cloth.
The second American edition; the first published in 1867. In this copy, the title-page vignette called for in the "List of Illustrations" is not present. The map is bound facing p. 1, and the illustration called for facing p. 65 is actually the frontispiece. The engraver of the two De Haas blocks, Kinnersley, was not able to be identified with either Augustus or Henry, but perhaps is a member of the same family.
