DescriptionLid of a double shawabty coffin. The two vertical texts occupying the long band down the center of each of the figures identify the figure to the left as :
Wsir sS nsw imy-r pr-wr IniwyA mAa-xrw ... Mn-nfr (Osiris, the royal scribe and chief steward of the great palace, Iniuya... Memphis)
The inscription on the right identifies the wife as:
Wsir nbt-pr SmAayt n Imn IwAy ( Osiris, the Lady of the house, the chanteress of Amun, Iuy.)

ProvenanceBy 1800: acquired in Egypt by General Jean-Joseph Tarayre (1750-1855), governor of Suez and a friend of Napoleon, who stayed in Egypt from 798-1800); by descent in Tarayre family until 1970s; by 1977: with Jean-Loup Despras, Paris; October 17, 1977, purchased by the MFA from Despras.
