DescriptionThe hood has side columns, finely reeded, with brass capital and base, and the arched surface above in outlined with a checker border and inlaid in the upper corners with sunrays in satinwood. There is a molded cornice and an openwork fret divided by three satinwood-veneered plinths. The hood has oval windows at the side. The case has reeded quarter-columns with brass capitals and bases, and the stiles are veneered with satinwood, framed with checker stringing. The door has a molded lip edge and is inlaid with a rectangular frame of maple stringing, with cut corners, and a central oval panel of flame satinwood. A deep cove molding carries the case into the base, which is similarly inlaid with a maple frame and an oval of satinwood. There are bracket feet with a snall spur bracket and a bowed skirt.
The enameled face has a large green circle in which it is numbered in arabic and inscribed with the maker's name. The face is painted in the spandrels and at the top with bunches of cherries and strawberries with gilt scrolls. The steel hands are filed and have large openwork ovals below the needle ends.
The case is birch and the backboard is pine.
The feet have lost some height. The plinths of the hood have been for finials but apparently never used.
