Written in chalk on inside of the backboard of the hood: "Feb. 19, 1812"
The face has the remains of a paper label on the back, which remains partially legible and reads: " . . . CURT . . . / . . . cturer" This may relate to a repair by either Lemuel Curtis or Samuel Curtis.
Printed paper label on backboard: "H.N. LOCKWOOD / Jeweler / Watch, Clock and Jewelry Repairing / 61- 9 Bromfield Street / Near Washington Street / Telephone Boston / Oct. 1913 [handwritten]"
