DescriptionChinese yellow silk taffeta with polychrome painted vining floral motifs. Robe: square neckline, attached stomacher with ruching and covered button closure, sack (Watteau) back with 2 panels of pleats, elbow length sleeves with asymmetrical ruffle, moderate panier accomodating skirt with fullness pleated into panier; front and necklines and sleeve ruffles trimmed; ivory silk partial bodice lining. Underskirt: deep ruffle above ruching at front hemline; fine linen, yellow and ivory silk at back; drawstrings at waist, paniers. 2 trimmed bows. (Cf. 43.1644)
