DescriptionThis small desk for a child stands on a frame decorated around the apron with ogee and other arch forms made of groups of cyma curves. The frame stands on four straight legs with pad feet painted black, as are the moldings at the top of the frame. The three-drawer desk has a slant lid, and is fitted with bird-shaped stamped brasses with bail handles. The interior has four small drawers surrounded by a series of pigenoholes with arched heads.
The case is maple stained red, possibly to imitate cherry. The large drawers have chestnut sides and maple bottoms, while the interior drawers have pine sides and bottoms. The back of the desk is maple, and the bottom of the upper case pine. Theer are two locks in the upper drawers, while the lowest was never fitted with one.
