DescriptionBlue glazed composition ware shawabty decorated and inscribed in black, with horizontal bands of inscription on the front bearing the shawabty spell from Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead and identifying the owner as Tjay, the Chief Prophet of Osiris. The arms are crossed over the chest, but no implements are held in the hands.
ProvenanceFrom Abydos, 1900: excavated by William Matthew Flinders Petrie and Arthur Cruttenden Mace for the Egypt Exploration Fund, assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the government of Egypt, received by the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund.
