DescriptionWalnut parlor set consisting of a pair of side chairs, an armchair and a settee. Casters are attached to the trumpet-shaped front and champfered rear legs of this set of furniture. The seat rails are decorated with burl panels and applied bosses. The chairs have round seats while the sofa has a kidney-shaped seat. Brackets are connected between the seat and back of the side chairs, a scalloped support, with incised lines, burl veneers and applied bosses characterize the armchair and settee. The arms are upholstered on each piece and enclosed straight on the bottom, while the wooden frame is decorated with burl walnut veneer. The crest rails are scrolled at either end, arches in the center, with stylized Grecian decorations. Upholstered in a medallion-design fabric believed to be the original upholstery.
