ProvenancePen and brown ink inscription on Dürer title "FF. Rothensium," with related stamp also on title "dem Kloster Roth" (probably relating to the Rot an der Rot Abbey in Upper Swabia, Germany, founded 1126 and dissolved 1803, when its library was dispersed); Anselm Franz Joseph Liel (book label; perhaps man of that name who was Staatsprokurator of Koblenz in early 19th cen.); Sylvester R. Koehler, Boston (1837-1900; first Curator of Prints, MFA), by whom given to MFA, October 20, 1898.
