DescriptionLarge circular platter or dish with multiple reeded brim; entire surface hammered; marked ED with five stars in shield four times in line on top of rim; marked with initials E over IM on opposite side of rim, with E and M stamped in square with barbed edge, and I incuse; B scratched on underside of rim.
ProvenanceEarly history unknown, although the initials may provide clues to original or early owners; dealer reports that it was found in Brookline, Maine; in the hands of a private pewter dealer in Duxbury, Massachusetts, by 1994; purchased by the Museum in 1994.
