DescriptionOne of a pair (with 2001.46.1). Oval double-lipped body on spreading oval bases, with scalloped molded rims, each long side with two waisted multi-scroll handles. Engraved on the side between a spout and handle with a coat of arms within foliate scroll and fish-scale mantling suromounted by a stylized shell.
Marks Struck under base with hallmarks (leopard's head, lion passant, date letter for 1725-6) and with maker's mark of Augustine Courtauld.
InscriptionsEngraved on side: arms of Mills those impaling those of another.
