DescriptionThis is a thrown pot with a circular body, straight-tapered spout, and drawn, criss-crossed handle applied to body with floral springs. There is a disc-like cover with an applied fruit or floral finial with leafage, which is not original to the pot. The pot is glazed opaque with a narrow gillouche band around the base and a trailing band on the shoulder with floral sprigs. On each side of the pot is a sheild with the Sargent arms (3 dolphins) and an eagle crest; the shield is surrounded with floral garlands and has a banner underneath with a Latin motto.
