López García speaks of painting in sculptural terms and works easily in both two and three dimensions. As well as paintings, he has made figurative sculptures and reliefs in plaster, painted wood, and, occasionally, bronze. For this work, the artist used his own clothes and an actual door to create a life-size composition that is also a self-portrait. In an understated way, López García elevated his immediate surroundings and subtly revealed himself. He has said: "I have created pictures from the form of things, from their volume, their materiality and from the distance between the different planes, rather than from color."
