DescriptionNoe borrowed this coin for the 1942 ANS exhibition and it was used as the plate specimen for the enlargement of the obverse in the subsequent publication. He identified it as the first in his series for the Willow Tree Shilling (Noe 1-A). It is believed that the short-lived "Willow" tree series immediately followed the original "NE" design.
