Catalogue Raisonné Nagler, Monogrammisten, IV, no. 1802 (possibly a copy - see Notes); Hollstein (German) Vol. XXV, no. 7 ii / ii copy
DescriptionNagler (in Monogrammisten, IV, no. 1802) describes an engraving by the Monogrammist MF of Apollo Flaying Marsyas. The subject of the MFA impression matches the description given in Nagler, including the inscription on the tablet hanging from the tree at the upper right. However, this impression is etched, and it appears to be on wove paper, so it is possibly a copy of the print described in Nagler. (See also Nagler, Monogrammisten, IV, nos. 1988 and 2007).
