DescriptionLarge-scale woodcuts for application directly to the wall were developed in the second quarter of the sixteenth century. Some depict processions or religious and moral allegories, while others are purely decorative, such as this panel with its lively classical motifs. These mural or wallpaper woodcuts were often handcolored.
