DescriptionThis face from a red clay statuette portrays a man with a bald head, a chubby chin and downward-curving eyebrows. The back of his head is missing, but the edges are smooth. There is a jagged break at the neck. Traces of white priming over the clay remain. The ears, nose and forehead are somewhat battered. The back is hollow.
ProvenanceBy 1909: purchased in Egypt by Joseph Lindon Smith; 1909: on loan to the MFA; 1911: purchased by the MFA through funds provided by Mary S. Ames.
