DescriptionPottery bust of Harpokrates, resting on a circular bottom, wearing tunic folded around the waist and bulla amulet around neck. The proper left arm cradles a cornucopia. The right finger is held to his mouth. On his head are two wreaths, one floral and the other of lotus buds. A shell (or leaf) is carved on the back of his head. White grounding and traces of paint cover the surface. There is red paint on the cornucopia, tunic, floral wreath, proper left shoulder, and shell on back of head. There is black paint on the necklace, hair and eyes.
ProvenanceFrom Sinai: Excavated by the Egypt Exploration Fund; assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund by the government of Egypt; 1905: given to the MFA by the Egypt Exploration Fund.
