DescriptionSmall poncho, ground divided into checkerboard of plain bright yellow rectangles and black rectangles in design of highly conventionalized small-scale bird motifs, alternately bright yellow and bright pinkish-red; borders on two long sides of scrolls of conventionalized birds in two shades of bright pinkish-red, flanked by narrow brown, yellow, and red stripes. Cotton warps, wool wefts.
Provenance1941/1942, probably acquired in South America by Roland Terry (b. 1917 - d. 2006), Seattle; 1947, sold by Roland Terry to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 12, 1947)
