DescriptionWhistle modeled in the form of a standing human figure, perhaps female because of the short blouse, with arms outstretched and palms held outwards in a ritual gesture. The figure's headdress includes a chin strap, wide band around the forehead with two cylindrical embellishments at the temples, and a panache of feathers and other adornment topping the headdress. A hollow shaft attached to figurine's back is both the whistle and supports the figurine in a standing position.
ProvenanceMargret Craver Withers collection (acquired in Mexico and Guatemala) by 1972; to MFA, November 1993, gift of Margret Craver Withers.
