DescriptionA woman sits cross-legged and grinds maize with a mano (cylindrical grinding stone) and single-footed metate (flat grinding platform). Her step-cut hair and simple wrapped dress are typical of Jaina Island-style figurines. Her circular earflares and the mano (grinding stone) are painted with post-fire "Maya Blue" pigment. The back of the figurine has extensive amounts of fire-clouding.
