DescriptionA glazed porcelain figure group representing the shepherd Endymion, asleep on a rockwork base and leaning on his right arm, a dog asleep at his feet. Above his left shoulder rises billowing clouds, surmounted by a crescent moon.
ProvenancePossibly a private collection, Lombardy. By 1996, acquired on the art market by Galleria Lukacs & Donath, Rome [see note 1]. By 2001, Giovanni Pratesi, Florence; sold by Giovanni Pratesi to Trinity Fine Art, London; 2002, sold by Trinity Fine Art to the MFA. (Accession Date: September 25, 2002)
