From the Foreword by Mrs. Harold Haven Brown and Paul Smith: "In contemporary times linoleum has come to rival wood as a medium for carving, and most of our blocks use it.... But the impressions you hold in your hands were made direct from the artist's block without any interference from modern photo-engraving." The eleven plates follow, with short biographical captions facing each print.
