DescriptionA rectangular ogival tray, with a border decorated with a puce ground, wide gilded rim and enclosing four small ogival reserves painted with harbor scenes. The well of the tray contains three gilded quatrefoil cartouches, outlined with arabesque and scroll decoration in rose camieu. Each reserve contains a harbor scene; the largest cartouche at center frames a scene of an aristocratic man and woman at water's edge, observing a fisherman rolling an eeling net out of the water.
Marks
Meissen factory mark during the Marcolini period (1774-1814) painted in underglaze blue on the underside. Impressed on the underside, near the footrim: "70"; incised on the underside: "17"
