Created while living in Boston, Pacing represents Lemieux's return to painting after producing conceptual, photo-based work in New York. In an effort to make the creative act as dependent on the body as the mind, Lemieux walked across the raw canvas with paint-covered feet. Revealing traces of a monotonous trek, Pacing could signal a fretful moving back and forth for a solution or possibly a feeling of entrapment.
