From an edition of 150 copies, of which 12 were not for sale. From the colophon: "The type faces are Goudy Modern and Cochin, set by hand.... The paper is all-rag and mould made Rives from France.... The thirty-five illustrations....were reproduced by The Meriden Gravure Company.... The portfolio itself, from the Allen Press bindery, is covered in a Fortuny print of eighteenth century design, hand-blocked in Venice. Other materials for the portfolio and box are from Paris. Produced by Lewis & Dorothy Allen at The Allen Press...."
First published anonymously in 1818 under the title: Beppo, a Venetian story;1963 illustrations selected by Eleanor M. Garvey and Philip Hofer and introduced by Eleanor Garvey.
