Provenance12th century, church of San Baudelio de Berlanga, Casillas de Berlanga, Soria, Spain (original commission); 1922, frescoes sold by the residents of Casillas de Berlanga to Léon Levi (dealer), Barcelona, working with Gabriel Dereppe (dealer), Paris and New York [see note 1]; 1926, frescoes removed from San Baudelio and sent to London to be transferred to canvas; 1927, sent to New York and sold by Gabriel Dereppe to the MFA for $117,500 [see note 2].
