NOTES:
[1] Mrs. Claflin lent the painting to the Exhibition of the Works of William Morris Hunt (MFA, Boston, November 11 - December 15, 1879; rearranged and reopened, December 20, 1879 - January 31, 1880), cat. no. 89. [2] In 1923 David P. Kimball bequeathed forty paintings to the MFA in memory of his wife, Clara Bertram Kimball. He noted in his will that these were "from the collection made by her and bequeathed to me."
