[1] According to notes in the MFA curatorial file, there is a label on the back of the panel from Goupil, 22nd Street and Fifth Avenue, New York. [2] Getty Provenance Index, M. Knoedler and Co. records, PI Record No. K-4697 (stock book 4, no. 6910, p. 154). The Knoedler stock no. 6910 is inscribed on the back of the panel. [3] In 1923 David P. Kimball bequeathed forty paintings to the MFA in memory of his wife, Clara Bertram Kimball. He noted in his will that these were "from the collection made by her and bequeathed to me."
