NOTES:
[1] Between the 1850s and 1880s, Robinson traveled to France and purchased paintings as Seth Morton Vose's agent. This painting was purchased as by Géricault and likely brought to the U.S. in 1875. It had been cut in two by 1886.

[3] Sold as by Géricault. At the time of donation, the painting measured 13 1/2 x 16 1/2, but would be rejoined with its lower half in 1935.
