DescriptionBoy's jacket and kepi or forage cap. Jacket: black silk velvet with silk cord binding, black silk lining; pleated white cotton mull neckline and insets for sleeves; two front pockets; 8 jet button closure. Cap: black silk velvet with silk cord binding on buckram foundation; silk ribbon bow tied through steel buckle, and two tassels on left; glazed kid strap with buckle on visor fastened with jet buttons; red kid headband, rose silk lining quilted in crown; label: "Genin's Bazaar, St. Nicholas Hotel, 513 Broadway." Worn by Edward Howard Hutchinson (1852-1938) of Buffalo, N. Y., grandfather of Ganson Purcell. Made for Genin's Bazaar.
