DescriptionCircular medal of Pope Pius V (Pope 1566-1572), commemorating the battle of Lepanto (1571). Beaded rim on both faces.

Obverse: Profile bust of Pius V looking to proper left, tonsured and raising right hand in blessing, wearing medal with two busts around neck; inscribed at edge in band "·PIVS·V·PONTIFEX·MAXIMVS·" and "·AN·V·" and under bust "·IO·ANT·R·F".

Reverse: Many ships at battle on seas with an angel-like figure on ship slightly proper right of center and possible an arm descending from clouds above; inscribed above "·A·DOMINO·FACTVM·EST·ISTVD·1·5·7·1·".
InscriptionsObverse: Inscribed at edge in band "·PIVS·V·PONTIFEX·MAXIMVS·" and "·AN·V·" and under bust "·IO·ANT·R·F".

Reverse: Inscribed above "·A·DOMINO·FACTVM·EST·ISTVD·1·5·7·1·".
